Join families around Buffalo and Western New York for the Climb Out of the Darkness Walk for Postpartum Mental Health. One in 5 women will experience a postpartum mental health concern. So if you know 5 women, you know someone who has been affected by a postpartum mood or anxiey disorder. This affects women of every culture, race, religion, and economic status. And the impact on the family is significant. We Climb to raise awareness, support, and funds to provide more resources for families as well as providers who come into contact with these families. This event is free, family friendly, and just a wonderful day of bringing the community together to support a great cause.
The Climb will be held Rain or Shine on June 22, 2019, at the same location as last year: The Buffalo Outer Harbor State Park, 1111 Fuhrmann Blvd, Buffalo, NY 14203, at Shelter 3 right by the playground. Registration starts at 9:30 and the climb starts at 10. Very stroller friendly. A short loop around the park. We'll have snacks and drinks and fun activities for the kids.
75% of funds raised will be donated to The Priscilla Project, a service through Jericho Road Community Health Center that supports positive outcomes for pregnant and postpartum refugee and immigrant women. 12.5% will benefit Postpartum Support International and the remainder will benefit the Perinatal Action Fund.
