Some people know, and some don't... but, after Anderson was born, I suffered from postpartum anxiety. It was my mom who told me that I should talk to my doctor - and I thought she was nuts. But... I was miserable - and tired of hearing her say it - so I went for an annual physical and talked to my GP. She referred me to a therapist who then diagnosed me with postpartum anxiety.

I wasn't aware that postpartum anxiety was even a thing. I knew I wasn't depressed... but anxiety made more sense.

Ya know how they say, "Mom knows best"? Well... mine did.

Since realizing that postpartum anxiety is an actual condition that can be treated... I have become such a better person and mom. 

It is something that needs to be recognized and talked about... not something to be ashamed of.

I have also recently attended 27 hours of training to become a postpartum doula. Because I love new mamas, babies, and families. And I know what it feels like to want and need support during that exciting (and terrifying!) time of life.

So... considering my experience and my passion... being a part of this walk wasn't even a question. I will be joining a few of my fellow doula-training classmates who have become such a support and such a joy to know and work with.

Having a baby is a game-changer. It is imperative for moms to take care of themselves. A happy mom makes a happy baby... and I want to support both.
