Climb Out of the Darkness® is the world’s largest event raising awareness of maternal mental illnesses like postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety and OCD, postpartum post-traumatic stress, postpartum psychosis, perinatal bipolar mood disorders, and pregnancy depression and anxiety.
Climb Out of the Darkness® is held on or near the longest day of the year annually to help shine the most light on perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. This is Madison, WI's sixth Climb Out of the Darkness®. This year's local event will be held Saturday, June 22, 2019, from 9:00am-12:00pm at Common Ground in Middleton, WI.
The event features mothers, fathers, and others across the globe joining together to climb mountains and hike trails to represent their symbolic rise out of the darkness of perinatal mental health crises and into the light of hope and recovery.
While registration is free, 75% of all donations stay within our local community and benefit Madison Area Parent Support (MAPS), an organization that directly supports parents in the greater Madison, WI area during the postpartum period and beyond, providing guidance and resources to those suffering from perinatal mood and anxiety disorders so they can get better.
Help us shine the light of hope with our words and advocacy so that our fellow mothers and fathers receive better information and better treatment, and new families will get off to the healthy and strong start they deserve.
Postpartum Support International's Climb Out of the Darkness is the world's largest event for raising awareness of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, while raising money and building community.
