Summary

PSI's Advanced Perinatal Mental Health Psychopharmacology Training, provided by perinatal psychiatric experts, is an evidence-based training on psychiatric prescribing during pregnancy and lactation. It is designed for psychiatric prescribers who have previously completed at least fourteen hours of perinatal mental health training. This advanced training combines expert presentation with case studies, group discussion, and practical examples. It is an interactive, case-based advanced seminar, covering differential diagnosis, medication challenges, and your questions. This course is an approved prerequisite for the perinatal mental health certification in the psychopharmacology specialty. Registration includes training manual and certification of continuing education.

Training Manuals: If you register for this event, a hard copy training manual will be shipped to you prior to the event.  When registering, be sure to accurately enter a mailing address from which you can retrieve mail.

Scholarships for Colorado Providers:  If you provide services in Colorado, and you would like a scholarship to attend this training, complete this application before registering for the training.  The application deadline is October 25, 2022.  Register after you have learned whether your application was approved.

1. Describe approaches to common challenges of psychiatric prescribing for perinatal mental illness.
2. Describe decisions related to appropriate dosage during pregnancy and lactation.
3. Describe expert recommendations related to specific case examples.
4. Identify resources for evidence-based data about medication during pregnancy and lactation.

If you cancel January 25, 2023 or later, you will be refunded 50% of your registration fee minus a $50.00 processing fee.  Fees can be transferred to future events, and substitutions are accepted.

Continuing Education Credit:

Physician CMEs:  The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) has reviewed PSI’s Perinatal Psychopharmacology Advanced Course and deemed it acceptable for AAFP credit.  Term of approval is from 12/09/2022 to 12/08/2023. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.  This session is approved for 6 hours AAFP Prescribed credits.  AMA/AAFP Equivalency: AAFP Prescribed credit is accepted by the American Medical Association (AMA) as equivalent to AMA PRA Category 1 credit(s)™ toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award.  When applying for the AMA PRA, Prescribed credit earned must be reported as Prescribed, not as Category 1.  These CMEs can be applied by Nurse Midwives and Advanced Practice Nurses.

Psychologists: Postpartum Support International (PSI) is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists.  Postpartum Support International (PSI) maintains responsibility for this program and its content.  Up to 6 hours of credit available.

Counselors: Postpartum Support International has been approved by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 6765. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Postpartum Support International is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.  Up to 6 hours of credit available.

Social Workers: This program is Approved by the National Association of Social Workers (Approval # 886708348-3321) for 6 continuing education contact hours.

Occupational Therapists: PSI is an approved provider of CEUs by American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), Provider #11342. The assignment of AOTA CEUs does not imply endorsement of specific course content, products, or clinical procedures by AOTA or indicate AOTA approval of a certification or other professional recognition.

Additional Information: The fee for continuing education certification is included in the registration fee.  Continuing education certificates will be emailed approximately three weeks after the training event.  Candidates for continuing education certification must document their time at the event by signing in and out for the event.  There are no activities (other than lunch and breaks) within the course that are not offered for continuing education credit.  Any grievances should be addressed with staff persons onsite at the event.  Alternatively, grievances may be addressed to Wendy Davis, Executive Director of PSI, by calling (800) 944-4773 or by email at wdavis@postpartum.net.
