Webinar #2 focused on historical trauma and structural racism and its impact on maternal health and mental health care, defining and recognizing implicit bias and microaggressions, practicing cultural humility, and incorporating cultural identity into a patient’s care.
This project accomplishes these critical objectives:
- Increase awareness of the impact of the pandemic on perinatal mental health, especially for those in communities hardest hit by COVID-19
- Improve awareness by ob-gyns and other women’s healthcare clinicians of culturally informed approaches to addressing perinatal mental health
Objectives: By the end of the presentation, the attendee will be able to...
1. Describe the most common perinatal mood and anxiety disorders
2. Describe the elements of a culturally informed approach to perinatal mental health care
3. Describe the impacts of the pandemic on perinatal mental health
4. List treatment options and resources for perinatal mental health care
Continuing Education Credits: Each webinar is 1.5 credit hours
CME: The AAFP has reviewed Perinatal Mental Health: Culturally Informed Approaches to Screening, Assessment, and Treatment and deemed it acceptable for up to 3.00 Enduring Materials, Self-Study AAFP Elective credit(s). Term of Approval is from 05/21/2024 to 05/21/2025. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. AAFP Prescribed credit is accepted by the American Medical Association as equivalent to AMA PRA Category 1 credit(s)™ toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. When applying for the AMA PRA, Prescribed credit earned must be reported as Prescribed, not as Category 1.
