My Story...
August 18th, 2018 - 5:26am - Baby Girl - McKenna Rose - 7lbs 1oz - 19in long
This was supposed to be the greatest day/moment of my life...I felt disconnected. Surrounded by family for weeks of support...I felt alone. Snuggly, beautiful baby...I felt detached. Sleeping baby...I was wide awake. Easy baby...I wanted to run away. 1 year later I'm climbing my way out.
These are all surprisingly common feelings that new moms experience. Unfortunately, some are too ashamed/afraid or can't afford the resources they need to get help. I climb to build awareness for PPD/PPA and other perinatal disorders so other moms can have the courage and support to climb out of the darkness.
Postpartum Support International's Climb Out of the Darkness is the world's largest event for raising awareness of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, while raising money and building community.
