Monica's Mama Warriors

I walk as a survivor of postpartum depression. I walk not because I enjoy reliving one of the darkest periods of my life but because I want to help other moms know they are not alone. If only one mom hears this message, this will all be worth it.

The days, weeks, and months following Aria's birth were not the happiest times of my life. I had some sweet moments but by and large the days and nights were filled with tears, sadness, regret, guilt, anxiety, and fear. One day I hope to be able to share my whole story but I'm not there yet. I am grateful for my family and close friends who helped me conquer the mountain of PPD.

Please walk with me, donate to my team, or share this so someone who might really need to see this knows they aren't alone.

Thank you for your support.

Monica

Climb Out of the Darkness™ is the world’s largest event raising awareness of maternal mental illnesses like postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety & OCD, postpartum PTSD, postpartum psychosis, postpartum bipolar disorder, and pregnancy depression and anxiety. Climb Out is held on or near the longest day of the year annually to help shine the most light on perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. The event features families across the globe joining together to represent their symbolic rise out of the darkness of maternal mental illness and into the light of hope and recovery. This event is a family friendly walk with kids activities like face painting, a balloon artist as well as community resources. Funds raised will be returned to the Ohio Chapter of Postpartum Support International to support programming in Cleveland for mothers and families.
