Thank you so much for checking out my fundraising page. Perinatal mental health is a cause that is near and dear to my heart. As a psychologist specializing in women's health, I have seen so many new moms fall through the cracks of the health system. We can and we should do a better job educating and providing resources for new parents during one of the most vulnerable times in their lives.

When I gave birth to my son, I thought it would be easy to recognize the signs of post-partum depression and anxiety since I had helped intervene with so many other women. The truth is, when it did happen to me, I had blinders on. I needed my doctors, friends, and family to point out the symptoms to me because I couldn't see them myself. Some of them did, but many of them didn't, simply due to lack of knowledge about what post-partum depression and anxiety look like. I firmly believe that the more we know, the better we do. 

Your donation to Climbing Out of the Darkness will help to educate the public on the signs and symptoms of post-partum depression and anxiety, bring resources to the people who need them most, and de-stigmatize perinatal mood disorders.
