I climb because, like 1 in 7 moms in America, I have suffered from postpartum depression and anxiety. Coming through that darkness was one of the hardest battles of my life, and I do not want any other mom to have to face her battle alone or in silence.
Organizations like Postpartum Support International and Moms Supporting Moms, through their work to destigmatize maternal mental illness and get moms the help they need, give moms the ability to thrive. And when moms thrive, families thrive. And when families thrive, our communities thrive.
No mom should face a postpartum mood disorder alone, and every mom should have the resources needed to help her and her family combat this treatable illness. Through events like the Climb, we can get there.
Postpartum Support International's Climb Out of the Darkness is the world's largest event for raising awareness of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, while raising money and building community.
You are not alone. You are not to blame. With help, you will be well.
